From 2008 to 2022, a total of 21 laureates had been honored. While not all of them could be present at the gala evening, the radiant smiles and positive energy emanating from those who graced the stage ignited the venue with thunderous applause.
Especially for all the recipients of the 15 awards, the jewelry company Poison Drop has created a limited edition of their iconic heart-shaped pendants. These pendants are crafted using an ancient technique, a skill possessed by only one woman in Russia, who handmade them. These heart pendants will become the signature and distinctive accessory. We hope that in the future, they will be recognizable as a symbol of “Steel Angel” recipients, not only in Russia but also in the entire climbing community worldwide.
Almost all the nominees of the 15th Steel Angel Award attended the gala evening.
The recipients of the 15th Steel Angel Award are Galina Terentyeva and Olga Lukashenko for their free ascent of the Perestroyka Crack route (5.12-, 7b or 7а/A2,1000 m, Faivre, Gentet, Givet, and Roche) on Peak Slesova (4240 m, Karavshin). It’s worth noting that this is only the second female free ascent of the entire route, following in the legendary footsteps of Lynn Hill.
The ascents that made it to the shortlist of the award were exceptionally strong, deserving, and captivated the audience’s keen interest. It is particularly noteworthy to highlight the high level of presentations — our women not only excel in climbing and conquering formidable peaks but also showcase professionalism in shooting and editing videos documenting their ascents!
