“Provodnik” —
a special Russian nomination for outstanding women mountain guides
Our mission is to highlight the community of female mountain guides in Russia, showcasing their achievements and contributions to the outdoor industry through their work, social initiatives, and personal accomplishments.
The “Provodnik” Award is a wooden composition shaped like a mountain peak. Its central element is the Austrian bend knot, symbolizing the middle climber in a roped team.
For the first two awards, the knot was tied using a rare Kevlar rope belonging to Irina Morozova, the award’s creator. She used this rope in the 1990s when working as a mountain guide during the early days of guided ascents in Russia.
For each subsequent award, the rope used will be one previously owned by the preceding recipient of the “Provodnik” award. This tradition symbolizes the connection of all generations of exceptional women mountain guides in Russia, uniting them into one climbing team. At its core, the award represents the continuity of generations of women mountain guides in Russia.

The award is presented with the support of RD Studio and Kristina Kozlova, a director, producer, and co-founder of the film company RD Studio.
